Benedict XVI In Ireland...Well Sort Of

On his way back to Rome following his Apostolic Pilgrimage to America, Pope Benedict XVI flew through Irish airspace and imparted his Apostolic Blessing to the Irish President and People.

The full text of the short greeting, addressed to President McAleese, went:
“Entering Irish airspace en route to Rome after my visit to the United States and the United Nations Organisation, I renew my greetings to Your Excellency and cordially invoke upon all the beloved Irish people, God’s abundant blessings.”

He has a free diary from late spring to the end of June 2009, maybe His Holiness might consider a Pilgrimage to the Land of Saints and Scholars, in either category he would be very comfortable! Wouldn't it be great if he came to Ireland "as a friend, a preacher of the Gospel."

I hope he would come to Ireland as Vicar of Christ and propagate the Faith.

I am perplexed as to the "as a friend, a preacher of the Gospel" remark.
Ireland is a Catholic state.

I would be surprised if the Holy Father didn't propagate the True Faith whilst here.
